Just out of curiosity - Airplane Guys

If you have another set of engine cases that would be the way to go.
If you have it welded they will want just the half of the cases that has the hole.
So it will be no more work to replace the cases as to have the hole welded.
The cases can be welded. I had a case welded 5+ years ago and no problems with it.

Not gonna derail this thread .But I was aiming at welding without disassembling the motor .
From the outside only .
For steel welding there would have been sufficient space doing it..
Haul the entire motor to the welder.
I am not that good mechanic ( anymore ) and getting worse eyesight and hands So if I disassemble it can be another of those sold off in parts.
The spare cases needs painting also. But doable

I was sitting on the top of the fuselage of one of my Hercs when this happened in front of me...

I was involved in the rebuild of the house it fell on. Tell ya what, dude took everything Uncle offered him and then some. If a highly classified stealth fighter falls on your shore shack, you get a McMansion to replace it. As a foundation/footing/soils guy, it took a LOT of excavation and stone to make that site viable for the house they sat on it. Ran into the homebuilder 5 years after the fact, he said the guy had him on speed dial, and every single paint fleck or nail pop got flagged and he had to fix. Hopefully he was getting well paid by Uncle for that level of service.
