Speaking of old Ford pickups....thats my first vehicle I ever owned, that red/white 59 F-100 in background of this picture.

Thats me on the right early in my Air Force career when I came home on leave with my young Son (my Dad on my immediate right).

Got enough miles to do the first oil change. Took it for a short ride to get the engine warmed up before changing oil. Rode North of town to local park along the Rock River. Place called Lowell Park. President Reagan lifeguarded there. I think he was credited with over 20 saves. Took a few pics of the bike and park. If you are wondering Reagan always considered Dixon his hometown. All of his school years were in Dixon. He was born in Tampico IL. Tampico is basically an intersection of 2 country roads. No swimming aloud at Lowell Park any more, they do have a couple of boat launches.

Today it was the Sportster's turn. First time out on it since December and after getting some fresh gas and riding for a few miles it started running great.

It was great being out on it again. It got a motor transplant late last year and I only got to take it out two times for test rides before the snow came. Next year it will 20 years old.

After 48,000 miles the crank failed and HD wanted $1700 for a new crank. Found a low miles motor out of a 06 for $1200 so that was they way I went. Apparently the 04 and early 05 had issues with con rod bearings. I transferred all the good stuff from the original motor( cams,lifters,push rods,rocker arms,extra plate clutch,high output starter and oil cooler) and turned down the rev limiter. Won't be hitting 7500 rpms anymore.
