It's great as long as you don't know what the other guy is driving. Such knowledge would keep you off the street.
Well, if it were an issue, we'd have inspections. When they stopped inspections, many were predicting death and carnage at every intersection. Much like when in '88 or '89 when Florida liberalized concealed carry, the predictions were that there would be daily shootouts over fender benders. Now I don't know for a fact the crash statistics, but gun violence actually went down. My biggest concern is that the penalty for driving without insurance isn't stiffer and I wish they would put some teeth into the useless law that prohibits the use of cell phones for texting, but allows you to use it (phone) for GPS. Officer: "We're you texting?" Driver:" No sir, I'm lost and was using my GPS" Officer: "O.K. have a nice day" They cannot ask you to look at it without a warrant. Freakin' useless. I've been nearly run over by a texting driver, but never hit by a vehicle with faulty eqipment, other than the steering wheel spacer. Sorry for the rant.
Three great rides in 3 days
St John the Baptist Catholic Church (circa 1866) in Churchtown, OH - a truly magnificent building atop a hill in the middle of nowhere.....
The road curves around the church: it's a baby's-ass smooth, twisty ribbon of blacktop through farm country. Above, my bike is parked on the shoulder, outside the apex of the bend (church is across the road).

First 70 degree day, lotsa sun, just a whisper of a breeze. Decided it was time to try a longer ride on Da Ninj.
Did one of my standard 100 mile loops. Surprisingly enough the comfort level was about the same as my FJ. Somewhere after 75 miles, I'm ready to get off and stretch a little on either bike. Also surprised me that a 400cc bike was plenty capable of sustaining 85-90 in 6th gear at about 75% of redline.
No plans to part with the FJ, but I might start looking around for a set of stock bags for it. The major drawback to Da Ninj is the lack of storage. A tank bag is about all there's room for.

Yesterday, I joined the local AMCA event in West Tennessee. I had an 0600 departure for the 50 mile ride to the start of the Memorial Day weekend event. Unfortunately, 30 miles of it was done in pouring rain. First stop was for coffee and donuts at a private collection (museum).
Part of this ride had police escort. It was a large slow moving group. Some were riding Cushmans.
Another garage visit:
We visited a 180 year old church and had a brief Memorial Day observance.
There was another destination for lunch and I somehow didn't take any photos. Last destination was for ice cream, then 65 miles back home to Mississippi. The XS650SH got the duty and I've now put 900 miles on it.
Lunch place. (Just imagine it packed with motorbikes and people)
It was a long day at 12 hours with wet feet, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

WHAT DID THE ROMANS DO FOR US?
Out for a second shake down ride this morning. Sun shining and really warm. I set out for a 50 mile round trip to my birth place. I was born in the small catchment of Caerleon; a picturesque place with nice pubs and restaurants, back in the day (Sadly expending with ever increasing housing). I was actually born in Lydia Beynon Hospital (Formerly Coldra House); later became The Celtic Manor Hotel.
The old house on left. Now engulfed by this monstrous hotel and golf resort! right.
Some history:
Caerleon:
I rode to the village centre where there is located Roman Amphitheater; and also excavations of a former garrison. The small museum also shows excavations of Roman Baths.
Bike shown in front of the playing fields which was formerly the Garrison.
The above garrison excavations show only a quarter of the actual garrison site.
This once housed around 6,000 legionaries or foot soldiers.
Below the remains of the Amphitheater; the only one in Britain I believe.
Sadly the bike didn't run very well. Clutch slip has been sorted although Neutral is impossible to get now; more adjustment required.
Bike would only take a quarter throttle; a fueling issue to be sorted.

Adam, I never get tired of seeing photos of your country and learning about its history. It’s funny what I think of , as ancient history here, is cowboys and Indians!
