THE BRAT GETS AN OUTING.

Sunshine all week and I wake up to rain this morning :( .
I run a few errands as it seems biking is off for the day. A car ride to Cardiff to find a new work contract proves fruitless; but as I make my way home the roads dry out and Mr Blue Sky is coming out to play. Mrs C is out with a friend so down to the lock-up for me.

Today is the last day that The Brat is Road legal before it need a new MOT (Government roadworthiness test).
A quick check of fluids and a bit of wind in the tires and we can go play.
I plan a short route into farmland along country lanes, just to warm up.
Then my usual first ride run to Chepstow and along the Wye Valley to Tintern.
A stop at the magnificent Tintern Abbey for tea and scones with jam & clotted cream.

The Anchor Inn, an old cider mill, is across the way; where the Monks used to brew various intoxicating liquids.
I resist the temptation to indulge in a pint or two; even though the weather is very warm. I shed a few layers to cool down.

After tea I take a stroll along the river to check a few of my favorite salmon pools. I often fish this stretch of the river Wye for salmon and trout.

Back on the bike and a fast blast to Monmouth along a well surfaced twisty road.
Through Monmouth town and onto the A449 dual carriageway to stretch the bikes legs.
Turn off at Usk town and cross the river Usk another good salmon river I like to fish.
Then another well surfaced twisty back to Newport and return to the lockup.

I'm pleased to say The Brat performed faultlessly and didn't miss a beat.
Only about 50 miles all told but a great run to get back into the swing of things after a very long and gloomy Winter.
Cheers Ads.:bike:

Very nice. For almost 25 years my home river was full of grass and clear as gin with plenty of warm water (largemouth bass, striped bass) fish for me to chase after work. But, you can't stop progress, and a new housing development in the watershed plus an impotent local sediment control enforcement policy turned it into this- I'll never see grasses in there again. Grass used to grow all the way out past the bridge.

First proper ride of the season. A few miles on the back roads and a few on the highway just to feel highway speeds again after a long winter and a slow start into spring. About 45 miles. Pic taken in Avis, PA.
Great looking ride and cool setting.

No pics so it didn't happen.
First real run of the year, 95 mi.
Clarksville, Greenville, Cooksburg, Prattville, Windham
and all points between and back to home. Nice day 50s, windy here and there.
Cold spots and warm, should'a dressed warmer.
Snow's high on the mountains, a few hundred feet over my shoulder riding through.
Very surprised to see three different groups and a couple singles out riding on a Monday,
Guess I wasn't the one to take the week off.
Chores for the rest of the week and prepping for a party, might get a chance to sneak in another ride before the week out.
Till then I got my fix. Damn I needed that! :bike:
