Just Ride.

I was out for a solo run today and had to stop here again

I've driven by this old 2 box cars converted into a corn crib ?or something for like 50 years or so
It's getting in pretty tough shape

Finally had a chance to get on a little longer than a half day trip on two wheels. Headed to Helen GA for the night and then played around in the Ga,Tn,Nc part of the woods before ending up at the Barber Vintage Museum in AL. Best ride was not the “famed or infamed” tail of the dragon, which I found had so and so pavement and several turns that actually “leaned” the wrong way so to speak. However the Cherohala Skyway from Tellico Plains TN to Robbinsville in NC was fantastic. Safe ride out there !

Wow what a beautiful day for a ride, the Local Triumph dealer was offering test rides so I took a 1200 scrambler out for 25 miles or so of back roads. Very good machine. Night and day diff from the Bool. 60 miles on that and the old bones were complaining.

Different in what way?
Every way?
LOL really nothing bad to say about the triumph. Well maybe those scrambler pipes when you put your foot down at a stop sign.
Otherwise' shifting, controls, power, brakes, "feel" all great, I'd own one.
The Buell's a riot, love it to death. I'm kinda amazed it's working so well after a quick kick the tires, light the fires type wake up.
A bit small for me, fits Allison perfect.

That’s actually a Scrambler 1200XE the pick of the range of Scrambler twins for me. I sold two this week! You need a bit of leg length to be confident on it however. The engine is a revelation compared to our antiquated but lovely 650. The 1200 can be a do all steed with some luggage imagination. Great bike

Nice Bool too.

I can't help but think that this message was made after 1976. Eric Witt was a British mechanic at the dealership that I would eventually work. He was on the pit crew for Dennis Manning at Bonneville in 1976. Manning's streamliner was using twin Norton engines. Anyway, he was riding on the tailgate of the truck with another fella as they were going to retrieve it after a successful run. He fell off and was pronounced dead at the track. RIP. Eric... :( Here's a vid from 1975.

I had a double header today as I started out with the XS for a 30 mile ride on some twisty canyon roads. It ran flawlessly and rewarded me with all the effort I put into it to get it that way. I was impressed with the way it handled and how well it carved the corners. Just an all around fun bike to ride! I brought it back to the shop and then took out my other project bike a 72 Triumph Daytona bought as a non runner. After getting it running over the last week I had a chance to ride it a bit. I couldn't push it too hard as the tires are ancient and hard as rocks. The carbs were too rich for my altitude but I manged a 10 mile ride. The shake down ride produced a long list of things that need attention but will give me some fun shop time. The carbs are already off it and tomorrow I will do a leak down test to see what may need work on the motor. Meanwhile I'll enjoy the XS until the snow flies.
