Just Ride.

Topped out at 68F today.
Had to do something about THAT!
Butterscotch won the toss. Didn't take TOO much to kick her to life, slap on a windshield and GPS and head to western Sauk then to Hub City in Richland County, heart of the Kickapoo Reserve.

Have to zoom in to see the roads I rode in the driftless.

Bit over a hunert smiles and three hours mainly on township roads. Didn't have to layer up much to stay comfortable.
Crops are pretty much in, some winter field prep about it on the farms.

wouldn't it be fun to live here?

Only a couple other bikes but I was bumping around the hills n hollows.
Low key scenery today.
Butterscotch acted a proper lady!

Gary, thats another great ride documented well. Lovely skys and sceanery. Bike look so cool in the pictures too. Just perfect.

Not much, Rode the baby beemer to town on an errand and that went well. No throttle, tickle carbs, second kick and it sat and idled smooth as could be while I got dressed to ride.
Then; I had found a "cheap" used digital zoom camera on FB, Nikon Coolpix L120 and it was supposed to be warm today. Not QUITE as dumb as I look, I put some electric gear on and in the top box. About 90 miles one way. Layered up "pretty good". Only used the heated grips with thin gauntlets on the way down, no other electric gear turned on, leaving before noon. The forecast 50's and sunny was actually mid 40's and cloudy at best.
Was pretty chilled by the time I got there, bought the camera and turned on electric socks, Milwaukee M12 heated gloves, and hoody. Made the ride back much warmer, not cozy, but doable. Errored on just longies and riding jeans, shoulda put on heavy riding pants Only stopped for photos once cuz, well cold AND dreary. After two hours, controls set at mid power one glove and hoody batteries were done. Sock batteries still had mebby a half hour left. Camera seems pretty good. Just built bridge over the Wisconsin River.
From wide angle to limit of optical zoom in cloudy light.
Need to work on focus these were all just hand held with some foreground vegetation maybe messing with it.

Not enough wind protection for "serious" cold riding?

Turns out I hadn't eaten all day, that didn't help with the "furnace".

Yeps, the past few years have seen some decent early digicams hit the market for knockdown prices.
There has been a resurgence of interest in them from later generations who object to the high prices and clinical output of current digicams, but I suspect it's also a lot to do with the low prices and the 'good enough' factor of only needing an image for social media, etc. Apart from that, a 5, 6 or 10Mp camera is capable of producing some excellent prints if needed.
I picked up a 12Mp Canon SX200 for keeping in the GS fairing pocket and a 14Mp Fujifilm S2950 (or something) for stashing in the under-seat tray in the car.
Both are good enough for capturing anything I come across when I've not got any of my later kit with me. If either of them turn their toes up, it's no great loss.

Exactly!
21X optical zoom 14Meg image. It's a bit big but thought it worth the trade off.

I have a small magnetic tank bag will hold it just fine for easy access.

Riding the driftless and taking pics seems like good entertainment for the codger.
You guy's are in for it next summer.:laugh:

That was always my idea of fun. I stopped a lot, when I was riding I was always scanning for a scene worth capturing. I probably wouldn’t have been much fun to ride with, many was the time I’d sail past something interesting and turn around to go back to get the photo. 😄
Your new camera really takes nice clear, colorful photos and your telephoto shots are nice and sharp. Good find!
Looking forward to your excursions in the spring! 😉

This is prolly the last ride (heard that before?)
put the fairing on the bBeemer. Went to try out the new camera, only 25-30 miles, with lots of photo stops.
Just MEH on the camera, it's OK but the telephoto shots aren't sharp.

Bike runs pretty good, got the carb leaks down to a no drips sheen of gas. Think another round of head bolts, valve setting is due. No smoke from cylinders now. Fairing worked well and I could hold 60MPH plus in top gear long as (no hills) grades were OK. Kinda different with a dry single plate clutch. Prefers load the shifter with the toe then pull the clutch for gear changes up and down. Stayed warm behind the barn door fairing, a back in the day aftermarket bespoke piece. Went to take Madness out after the packer game but at 2:30 the sun was getting low in the sky. Shut the shed door.

is this the bike you picked up earlier in the year?

Yup.
More great photos! I actually really like that fairing, it’s got that vintage vibe, and I’ll bet it gives pretty good protection too? 🤔
Thanks guys!
Stayed warm behind the barn door , after I got back worked on the mounts moved the top a bit further forward.
