I lived in Chicago burbs for 30 years and would jump on my bike and head to a triangle made by Prairie du Chien, Lacrosse, and Reedsburg. Some of the most beautiful country we have in my opinion. I’d get home and look down and see 300+ on trip meter easy. Sometimes grabbed a hotel west side of Madison or even Onalaska.Weather looked great, so a few hundred winding hilly back road miles arguing with the GPSin the driftless.Then a quiet evening by a campfire at Castle Mound State Forest. Nice hike up to a former fire watch tower atop the mound. More of the same type riding back home this afternoon. Packed light for a dry one nighter low of 50 and left the side boxes at home.
