Just Ride.

@Woodstock1976, coupla questions;
  • what tires are on the bike in the last pic? Look like Dunlop K180's, but also looks like a 16" rear, for which I don't believe there is a K180
  • what diameter rear wheel is that
Look like Dunlop K180's, but also looks like a 16" rear, for which I don't believe there is a K180. Enlighten me please!

A perfect little back road bomber long's you 'spect her age. Shhh!
And I don't baby her just watch stopping distance a bit and avoid rough spots at speed. 👍

Thanks! ... so that's an SR500 rear wheel?

I honestly don’t know. I didn’t do the modifications to it. I got it in rough shape from someone in 2024 who got it from a later owner after the initial restoration and modifications back in 2010 or so. I’ve just been trying to get it back to good shape

The experts here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the cast XS650 rear wheels on the Specials are all 16". The SR500, however, was equipped with an 18" version of the same cast wheel. Now I know what I'm looking for!!!

We have had just an amazingly beautiful stretch of days this Fall here in the Northwest and we aren't wasting them.

Couple friends and I just went out tiddling on the backroads yesterday for around 60 miles (mine's the CB350 in the middle).

Then we came back and had dinner by the campfire in one of their back yards overlooking the Chehalis River after our ride...it was a great day.

Thanks, yeah, but she also behaves like an old steamer. It took me quite a while to even figure out how to get the rev-matching right 🤪 The Pre-Tonti's can generally be quite stubborn : )
I believe the correct word is "characterful" :geek:

I enjoyed watching Ewan McGregor on his trip around (I think from memory?) Scandinavia which was on TV a while back. His Guzzi wasn't a clean looking as yours. But it was interesting.

Took advantage of the nice weather here in PA and got the 650 out for a short ten mile rip. Just enough to keep the fuel in the carbs fresh and the battery from dying completely. It was pretty low on charge and the idle was pretty rough. It wasn't happy to be woken up from it's nap but after a grocery run it idled like a dream.

Anyone else experience frequent missing on one or both cylinders with a severely discharged battery?

Either way. It was good to get the bike out of the shed and give it a rip.

Perhaps time get a battery tender Some bikes have a charging system that can fry if using it to charge a low battery
