Home chillin. It is strange how when this 79 gets home warm it does not leak at all. You can kill a tall beverage watching for it.. But overnight when it cools, then its starter seal does drip daily..

Thanks! Desperately need to re-gear mine and am gathering info. Not trying to set any land speed records, but stock I feel like I am ringing it's neck down the highway.

Which means 60 ought to be 3,600?

BTW, thanks for recommending the Halcyon bar-end, fitted one to Miss November, first time I've seen a non-blurry image in the mirror.

    RPM vs. MPH

The above link was posted by Pamco Pete about 10 years ago.

I find the 17/34 combo to be as good as it gets. I find and increase in rear sprocket size to make for an unacceptable loss of low end torque. 4,000 RPM is a happy place and it's plenty fast enough. This is no superslab road burner and even so, it will do it when necessary. YMMV

A short jaunt today testing my new tires and rims, all good, really smooth rolling along now. Dunlop K70's better than I expected.
Museum commemorates the Elgin Settlement, established by a southern clergyman in 1849.
Some really startling exhibits there, an actual ball and chain on display immediately dispels any cartoonish idea of same; really brings one up short.

That’s an interesting bit of history! Your bike looks great, and I too like my K70’s, they just have the proper vintage look. At first I was blaming the tires for squirming a little on me when I pushed it hard through the corners, but upgrading my shocks fixed that. The one thing they really are bad on though, is rain grooves on the highway, they really dance around. But I don’t spend much time on highways with that bike! :)

@TwoManyXS1Bs and I did some back roading Thursday and ended up in Doss Texas, a early German farming community.

Looking at the photo I almost expect a line of Indians in war paint on the ridge line. As the song says "This is where the west commences".

In fact about 15 years ago I covered a Nimitz Museum reenactment of the the Iwo Jima invasion and that ridge line in the background was the site of the Japanese emplacements.

Nice 160 mile day for me mostly at about 35 MPH.

A welcome back to the fold to @baraboobill !
Bill stopped by today riding a very sharp 75 wing, had a couple XsS650 back in the day and recently found a "barn" 77. I deviously wet his whistle with some XS handlebar time, so hopefully some details of his barn find and a build thread will happen. (hint, hint)

sorry about the focus, I think WJL did a bit of attention hogging...
The odd focus is all @GLJ fault, ride in the rain home from Ozarks with the phone showing radar has now left a moisture ring round the lens. Makes for a kinda neat special effect but not so much on wide view sharp images....
