Leaking Gas Cap

Do I have the rubber cap gasket installed wrong. Possible! I remember saying I should have taken a pic on assembly.

It lies with its edge half up & halfdown.
Or is this typical of a Mike's XS part?

Looks like I have at least one thing wrong. Thanks Willis.

I remember taking it all apart and saying: "How hard can this be to reassemble? It's a gas cap!"
I must've forgot how old I am!
