Just found this post. Thought I'd post a before and after of my 1974 TX650A. Two year build. Imported into UK from the USA. Crash damage. Sized engine broken and bent valves. Loads of rust after being stored (abandoned?) in a barn for 20 years.
I've rebuilt a few British bikes over the last 40 odd years but this is my first Japanese build. I would have struggled without all the great information and help from this site and member. Thanks everyone.

My back from the dead project, 77 XS650D, was certainly made much easier by the information and help given here. It only took me 18 months. A year longer than I'd expected :shootme:

It's a great site. Really helpful members. Social media isn't always like this.
I bought my bike unseen from Ebay. Maybe not the best idea. Took me longer than expected.
I'm really enjoying the results.
Fully understood. I used to run a similar bike enthusiasts forum from 1999 to the mid 2000s. It was just like this one but back then, much busier. I guess here it was a lot busier too. But Facebook in the main has been the death of such on line communities. XS650 owners are very fortunate that this one still exists.

It's a Marshall deeptone system. Great sound, without being too antisocial. You can even remove the back wheel with it in place.
It's made by laser I believe that they are no longer producing this system unfortunately.
My system came from a friend who had stripped an XS to rebuild it, but hasn't got much further. It has got a bit of surface rust. But looks good at a distance.

Thanks. It looks very nice.

Yes, I think you are quite correct in that they are not being produced anymore. I was more than curious, as Delkevic seems to now be the only readily available 2 into 1 system.
Yes, I'm actually very happy with the Delkevic on mine. I don't like two into one systems generally. But the quality and finish of the Delkevic is really very good.

Ok, y'all have convinced me. I bought a reverse cone system...not sure whether I'll use it first or switch out with the NOS Mac 2 into 1 I have.

And honestly, I have always felt Delkevic made quite decent products...I had a Delkevic system on a Triumph Tiger 955i some years ago (great bike BTW).
