I was going through this past year's photos, and came across this pretty decent pic of my 1981 SH taken early spring of 2025. I acquired this machine in 2017, and while it was in fairly decent condition (operative word is "fairly"), I spent the next several years finding and eliminating gremlins. In the end, aside from splitting the lower cases, there is not a single nut, bolt, or screw on this machine that has not been in my hands at some point in time. The fairing is a NOS Vetter Quicksilver Nightstalker - acquired in 2021, engine overhaul and clutch in 2022 - numerous other components overhauled and several other custom modifications done by yours truly. It's now a very reliable, comfortable, and fun to ride machine - it pairs well with my other 81 (an H model) Special 2.

Makes me think Taffy is worth a few shillings more!

(A big) If it sells, I'd be surprised if it made £2400.

It probably won't sell, there's too many for sale that look a far better buy to my eyes. Then again, I can just imagine the conversation with his wife who asked him to sell the bike. Something like "honestly dear, I have done everything I can think of to sell the bike. It's just that nobody wants an XS650."

...on your chainsaw. There I finished the sentence for ya!
Chainsaw... Riding atvs on a frozen river last week met a fellow coming the other way with a chainsaw on his atv. 0 degrees so we had just a brief greeting. But, every deadfall tree we came across up the river had a fresh 4 foot log cut out of it so we could easily trek up and down the frozen river.
