Miss November XS2 tribute

PS new battery lead ordered from Yambits.

That was Thursday, this is Saturday:

I'd call that first rate service from Yambits.

And from Post Office to be fair. Wuz actually literally reading an email telling me my Yambits parcel was due for delivery . . . and there wuz a knock at the front door.

Burnt offering of the old HT lead and red wire #1

This morning, fitted the new lead and made up a new red #1 to go from there to the fuse box. Managed to fit it without any sharp bends, but long-term I would like a nicer fuse box and better located.

Full electrics restored. But Miss November has no public appearances scheduled in the immediate future, it's flippin' cold and raining outside.

New Red #1 at top right., avoids having a sharp kink at the fuse box. In fact, I would like to tidy up the wiring. It all works but it must be possible to make it tidier with better routing, heat-shrink tubes and mini multi-connectors in place of bullets. Would be nice to have a better fuse box and in a better location.

Always have best intentions to work on the bikes over the Winter but I hate having to go into a cold, cluttered and semi-dark garage to work.

Three changes I hope will improve things this year. A space heater:

Stepson Graeme has fitted five light panels to replace strip lights in the garage - these seriously flood the place with light.

Plus, selling the RE Interceptor has given back valuable space.

Those LED panels are a game changer in a work station location.... Nice one raymond.

What light panels did you use
I have 6 flood light bulbs on the ceiling but the lighting could be better

No idea. Graeme fitted them, they came out of a shop he was refurbishing, owner had no use for the light panels. As well as five in the garage, he's put one in our fuel store and one in the workshop, these areas have never been as well illuminated.

Hot off the presses. Latest iteration, you'll see why this made me laff https://www.xs650.com/threads/justa-joke.344/post-899079

The aim is tidy up the wiring, so success will look like less clutter under the seat. Would like to add a volt meter in the binnacle between speedo & tacho, and maybe add a turn signals repeater in there too. Going to have to take a looksee what's there, how to break it open, what sorta vm will fit.

Use multi-mini connectors instead of bullets to compress & simplify. Do away with the fuse box - fit blade fuses in line. The main 20A as before in red power feed to ignition but might add some lower amp fuses. Maybe in the leads to Kill switch, lights On/Off, brake lights? Obvious downside is will need to take the headlamp out to check a fuse . . .

I love your shot at simplicity and new "everything". If it were me, I agree that I'd add some secondary fuses i.e. lighting circuit, etc., but I would find a nice spot to mount a 4-fuse blade box (under seat, under left side cover...) instead of burying the fuses in inline holders in the headlamp shell. FWIW only. :)

Thank you. Part of reason for replacing the under seat fuse box, it's awkward and one wire - the red feed - failed due to a kink at the fuse box. But also it will save having wires running all't way from h/l shell to the fuse box then double back to h/l shell. Just that one change will save six wires running down the main harness.
