pumps,

Here in South Carolina, there is no vehicle inspection of any kind for cars, trucks or motorcycles that are non commercial. I think that they recognized that the inspection was mostly a sham anyway.

However, you can go across the line to North Carolina and get your vehicle inspected even though it is not registered in NC if you are going to sell it as extra assurance to the buyer that the vehicle has passed an inspection, especially if the buyer is from NC.

You don't have to have an inspection sticker to get it registered. Just insurance. But as dover said it's not impossible for a cop to overlook the inspection sticker on the bike. I'm actually going to attempt to get an antique tag so I don't even have to worry about it at all.

So in Texas, it is not required to get ANY motor vehicle safety inspected before you get a license plate? How does that work? Here in MO when you go to get a plate you must show the safety inspection slip or you don't get one. .

It was sorta like that in California back when I used to live there. In CA though, they don't have safety inspections, just smog -- at least for cars. Can't really say for sure about bikes cuz I didn't own any when I lived there. And you have to show the smog inspection to get your new tags.

Here in Texas, you don't have to show any proof of inspection to get your new tags, but you do have to show proof of insurance. You also have to show proof of insurance when you get your car/bike inspected here.
