Thanks for the reply. I've had my eye on those three terminal type regulators in case I ever need a new one. They're very widely available so no need to pay top dollar. Interestingly, I found one with an adjustable output. If ever I need a regulator again, I'm going to try one of those.
I Used some dampening padding around them Not sure if that is right ..but I did .. and install them in the slot where the tools go stock
And there exist those with metal outer casing . And higher priced .. Cannot say if they are better quality
Bosch brand have good reputation but cost more I have Not had any problems .. with them

Cheers I hadnt seen that. Mine charged at dead on 14v once over 1500rpm and 13 ish at idle. I never tried it with load / lights on yet. `the one bolt hole has a ground /earth tab attached which is connected internally to the tab marked as - on the drawing. No markings on the actual unit. I scratched them on mine for easy reference later.

So I used the area behind the side panel in the end. Heres the finished install. Not as neat as some but its functional and charging View attachment 353732
I'd say that's a nice job. I put my rectifier in the original position but it's shape was similar to the old Yamaha one so it naturally fitted there best. Good result all round.
