My Buddy Finally Bought a Honda CR500 from Boca Scooters, Now I Need Some Advice

So a friend of mine had been hunting for a Honda CR500R for months. Every time we found a Honda CR500 for sale, it was either completely trashed or already sold.


Well he finally found a clean one from boca scooters and pulled the trigger. The bike is an absolute beast and probably one of the wildest two-strokes ever made. Now he’s asking me what the first things he should do after buying it maintenance, upgrades, things to check.


For those of you who’ve owned a CR500, what’s the best advice you’d give a new owner?

Extra pistons and rings while you can.

I once hired a bike in Crete; the owner only had one bike left was his own CR500! A Fu(kin' nutter bike!!
Loved every minute on it; much better than the step through scooters he normally send out.
