The slave cylinder. Doesn't it screw in? So you are to pull the ram/piston/cable end out all the way out.
Then screw it in till the distance is the same as where your original cable ended?

Ok, something's been bugging me and I decided to take matters in my own hands, with all apologies to Hugh and anyone else who, unlike me, knows what they're doing. I decided to change out the lever:
It's a standard xs650 silver-nickel break lever inserted on the main brace of the HHB clutch mod. I've drilled 2 holes for these:
Clevis pins!! Attached by a spring (underneath):
Here's a closeup of the bolt I got in the lever to actuate the piston in the handlebar piece. I had to grind it so the head of the bolt didn't trash the rubber around the piston in the handlebar piece:
