I admit to being a little over the top when it comes to the bike, I like neat. Under the tank is a horrid place: Cables, wires and do dads everywhere. Of particular concern to me is the cables just flopping around under there. So, I secured the clutch cable to the right side top engine mount via two P clamps, then I turned my attention to the throttle cable.

Originally, I had it running between the two engine mounts, but it was a little crowded in there, and hard to get at, with the two harnesses, so I ran it along the outside of the left engine mount, then made a clamp which bolts to the engine mount and secures the cable and splitter. The aluminium I used for this came off a discarded road sign I found. No idea what grade it is, but it is very tough, springy and hard to bend, so I suspect it may be 7000 series.

The original carb cables had angled tubes on the end, but they tended to foul on the petcocks when removing and replacing the tank, so I made two new cables, without the angled steel tubes, and routed them from the splitter and over the frame tube.

Much much neater, easy to get at and feeds my pedanticism.

Now, all I have to do is work out what to do with the points cable, I drilled a hole in the top of the points bucket some time ago for a more direct route to the coils, but it does look untidy.

Thanks, have to hit the clamp with the polisher again, just a little bit crusty in places. I tested out my clutch slave cylinder for leaks the other day, those hydraulic ram seals are the go, much better than the rubber rings in the calipers. Shot the piston across the shop at a great rate of knots. As soon as the hydraulic hose arrives, I'll hook it up to the brake master and see how it goes. I've managed to find a sub 10mm master, so if everything is a goer, I'll buy one. it means non matching masters , but I think I can live with that.
