Sorry, I thought I remembered you had a motor rebuilt/rephased (maybe different one?)There was a few bits that stuck to the magnet. No idea on rebuild. P.o. had about 10k on the odometer when I picked it up. She does use a bit of oil over the course of a week, but doesn't seem to be burning it. Runs strong.
Yes, this was the false neutral motor, sorry for the confusion. The re-phase is a different engine, this one is the stock 81'.Sorry, I thought I remembered you had a motor rebuilt/rephased (maybe different one?)
Is this the motor that was getting an extra "false neutral"?
How many miles since the last oil change?Forgot to mention this. While changing oil I noticed some bits of metal in the filter...how worried, if any, should I be? View attachment 241083View attachment 241082
Ok good to know! oil was last changed last summer, I did a speedo swap but would be surprised if mileage was over 1k between. Strainer in the crankcase was changed then as well.Ok, I haven't lost my mind (much). If the mileage on that filter is unknown and it has the minor tranny issue, that's the likely source. I don't think it's an immediate concern then. The tranny issue may, or may not, get gradually worse and not a cause for teardown IMO at the moment.
Will do on the next oil change. Just gonna run er for now. She'll work till she doesn't I guessMake sure you check the sump screen. That screen on the side is after the oil pump. What gets through the sump screen is going through the oil pump.
Best place is @GLJ for push rods.Wow, just got back into the left side cover for a 520 chain conversion and a gearing adjustment. (Gonna try going down to 30 on rear sprocket). BUT! Check out the wear on the end of that one piece clutch pushrod already! Maybe couple hundred miles on it. Yes, it's a Mike's, where are you guys sourcing your one piece pushrods?View attachment 246347
