New member, 73 TX650!

Very inspiring and nicely done! I've got a TX650 in the process of restoration and can only hope it turns out half as nice. Are you running stock ignition?

Hi 2XSive,

Yes the bike is running totally standard ignition and charging system. I think the points are still the originals from 1973 and show minimal signs of wear. I set both the points gaps and ignition timing while the engine was on the bench and it’s exactly how it should be.
The charging system is also on its original voltage regulator/rectifier and for piece of mind I always fit a cheap digital voltmeter to the system which is connected to the supply to the ignition coils which gives me a good indication of the system health while riding. Currently it shows 14.8 volts at 3000 rpm which I think is right where I want to be.

Regards

Pete.
