Hello XS-Drivers and XS-Addicted,

I would like to post a short Introduction of my XS and me.

My name ist Dietmar (male) and i´m 47 years old.

I used to ride motorcycles since i was 20 years old.

My first bike was a Yamaha FZ 750 from 1988
next one was a Honda XRV 650 "Africa Twin".

Then i fell in love with a 78 XS 650 and owned this bike more than 10 years.
Unfortunately i sold it for a very low price.:banghead:

After that i owned two different Yamaha TRX 850.

After some years without any motorbike, i decided to start again riding a bike and
got my self in 2011 a Honda VTR 1000 F Superhawk.

But anyway, i was still remebering my good old XS 650.....

So in spring 2013, i bought a 1977 XS 650 in really bad condition.
The bike was a real "barn find" and stood there for over 22 years.

But since last year it is back on the road!

I hope i can find some good advice to keep my Baby running.:D

Best regards

Dietmar

Welcome Dietmar,

Posted in the right place. Bike looks nice, i haven't seen those graphics in that color before, is the tank black?,

Always like pics so if you have some before and during the build would be good.

Actually, the colour is not black, it is an AUDI colour, and the name is kirsch-schwarz metallic (cherry-black metallic)
When it is cloudy it looks like a normal black, but when the sun is shining, you can see a red or brown colour.

zweitopfmopped,

My son in law is from Berlin. I have some very good friends in a little town called Detmold up near Hanover that I have visited, and I have visited München a couple of times. That's when I learned that there is some kind of "Fest" every month in München, not just for October Fest. Great country. Where are you located?

Welcome to the site! Be sure to pass the word about our site here......................we need more XS650 guys from Germany.

You have a beautiful country, especially Bavaria. I visited Munich and the Alps in 2012, and it was just a super place. Your beer is most agreeable:D

I stationed at Hahn AB, 82-87. Near the Mosel river. Great country. Great backroads for motorcycles. I had a R-100RS at the time. Went to Oktoberfest in '84. Great place and great times.
Welcome zweitopmopped!

Hi Guys,
thank you all for your welcome wishes!

I see, that there are some guys, who have been in Germany in the past.

I was in the U.S. two times, 1997 in New York City, and Canada,
and in 2007 in Chicago area and Evansville, Indiana.

But now i want to introduce my XS..:)

It is 77 model, almost original, with a few technical modifications.

The PMA is from a Yamaha RZ 350, with modified wire harness

Engine has Big Bore pistons from Woessner (750 cc)
It has a so called NWZ ingnition from Steffi Graf ( http://www.steffi-graf.ch/ )
an hydraulic Cam Chain Tensioner, also from Steffi

I modified the lubrication system with a standard paper filter, the small one
in the clutch cover.

Koni shock absorbers

Front end has progressive springs

Most of the parts, which i needed for restoration, i got from:
- http://www.twins-inn.de/twins-inn/start.htm

So if you have any questions, let me know!

regards

Dietmar
