I don't know what direction I am taking on this yet, probably a Cheney hard tail flat track frame. I raced a non-framer XS in the early 70s among several others. Sponsored a little kid on a loner Suzuki 100 shop racer, name was Roberts. He wound up doing ok with Yamaha. I'm too old and lame to build cars anymore so I am building custom one-off bikes. I had been waiting for some time to find a good deal on an XS and I finally did. For reference I also have a 550 Seca with a combination of GSXR suspension and wheels that is moving in the direction of a retro-cafe racer with considerable improvements. A 1934 Harley dirt tracker inspired project using a Highly modified LS650 power plant. Another LS650 based hardtail, springered 50's bobber/ a 74 XL175 with a beefed-up engine and modern dirt-bike suspension, seating and fenders and finally a KX400 with street tracker treatment. I have a well-equipped fabrication shop at home and also a full wood working shop. What I lack these days is energy. Ha! So, there it is, I am happy to be on board. I do have a question I live in North County San Diego, and I have not been able to find any motorcycle shows or clubs related to custom builds. A few Harley centered things pop up but nothing for innovative builders. I haven't run across any XS650 people either. S0....if anyone knows of anything interesting out there in So Cal or Maby Vegas let me know.
