Hey gang! I picked up a basket case XS 650 about 6 months ago from a local kid trying to hack it into a cafe racer. I finally have some time to dig into it and am finding all sorts of fun little surprises! (sarcasm). First, he listed it as a 1980, and based on the VIN: 447-118XXX it appears to be a 1975 650B. My plan is to tear the entire bike down and turn it into a proper bobber. My first step is to get it running, but I need some help identifying the carbs (2) currently on it. The carbs appear to be of the Mikuni VM series variety but without taking them off, I don't know what size. The only stampings on them are a "G5" and just below it a Z 1. I suspect they may be VM34's but the stampings dont come up. They look exactly like this:

Questions:
1. Does anyone know what the heck I have?
2. Is there a measurement I can take to get the specific model?
3. Are these acceptable to run on the bike? (PO said the bike ran great for 2 years then he let it sit)

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

Updated photos of my actual carbs. Note the billet adapters. I suspect this engine has more than meets the eye going on since someone put a lot of attention into these

OK, says Mikuni Japan on the casting and they're left and right side carbs. They look like the real deal. Probably VM34 but without measuring, can't be certain.
After digging into old Mikuni catalogs online, that is the conclusion I suspect as well. The stampings are throwing me off - and the need for the billet adapters is also making me question things.

Those billet adapters are pretty common. The stamping is a good thing. Chinesium clones don't have them.
