Good Afternoon Gents, New member here, introducing myself, and just saying Hi, I have had an XS650 for about five years now, which I am about to begin a full restoration on soon, It's a 1977 D model with the spoked wheels and two discs on the front wheel. it was neglected for several years before I got it, and those brake calipers are seized, the wiring Harness is burned out, probably from a reg/rec fire in the past, but the tank inside is remarkably clean, and not been sealed. I shall be working on the bike over the summer, at the moment, i'm getting all the parts I need, already got tyres, chain and sprox, seat cover, mufflers, and a battery, oil filters, Air Filters, and Carb kits, as well as fork stantions, seals, brake rebuild kits Wiring Harness, Master cylinder, ect. the chrome is in good nick, it was looked after by PO, but i think the wiring fire put them off doing anything serious. it's the Maxi maroon colour, but I want to paint it in the later black livery with the silver linings. I have a paper copy of the Factory manual, the Parts List, and the Suppliments, as well as the ubiquitous Haynes manual!
I shall go quiet and listen, and read the site as I'm new, but once the teardown begins, Ill probably be on here a lot. This isn't the only bike Im doing, I also have a Suzi GT750J, Kwacker H1, and an H2, and a Triumph Trident in progress too. Its my (soon to be) retirement hobby.
I look forward to starting in the spring! Hi!

Will do, Once I get started! I have to take some photos first!
Heres the Suzi, and the Trident. Just the clocks for now, the XS is in a garage some distance away.

Beautiful job on the clocks, I’m a fellow 2 stroke nut with an rdlc, 3 rz’s and an rd400 along with collecting vintage Elsinore’s.
Welcome aboard mate!
Thanks Boss. I'm working on an eclectic collection of bikes right now, I bought them years ago when they had less value than they have today, but were always the ones in the Bike shop that I couldn't afford then but wanted. I remember XS 650'S Advertised at less than £1000 new in the early 80's, and being an impecunious student, had to make do with a C15! Somwhere I have an old Classic Bike magazine with the adverts for the XS650 Special in it, I think from memory £895 OTR from Coburn and Hughes.
Today, I have the GT750, a GT550, and a GT380, As well as the H1 and H2. I have an LC350, Bonnie T140E, 400/4, and a 350/4. My retirement is going to be fun, at least until the Chancellor takes it away from me.
