That's one tidy garage!
WelcomeView attachment 339955Hello, new to Forum. Wow, a lot of great info here for a newb. I was fortunate enough to buy the exact motorcycle my uncle taught me to ride on in the 80’s a few years back. I finally have garage space now and it’s time to make her look and run as she should. A bit shy hiding in the middle I guess (in pic). One question if someone has a moment. This is a 74TX650A, it has bosses on both forks for calipers. Is this original?
Thanks, 2011 Multistrada under the cover which every couple of years think I should find something new. And, every couple years can’t find anything I’d rather have.Welcome
Great line up of rides.
What’s hiding under the cover?
Fixt.Although Mailman clearly approves of your supremely spotless work area (no surprise), I think that a bit of crud and grime would go a long way towards making it habitable forvintageBritish bikes.
.
I think the EU bikes have the bosses in a different place. The brake rotors are smaller than on the North America bikes.European bikes were fitted with 2 discs, Yamaha didn't see the wisdom of having an extra part numder to stock so I think all the fork legs had caliper bosses on both fork legs.
Study the pics here, they appear the same.I think the EU bikes have the bosses in a different place. The brake rotors are smaller than on the North America bikes.
Seriously Kevin?????Study the pics here, they appear the same.

I suppose a detailed Partzilla investigation would resolve the question.
Thanks @650Skull , I visually aligned the bosses (in the '76 or '77 pics) with the fork oil drain plug via easily available pics and made the observation.Seriously Kevin?????
Yea an investigation on partzilla will resolve it.......or study the pics.
Sorry sarcasm is my form of witt

FRONT FORKS, Major difference
77 to 82 Euro standards have twin front disk brakes with 265mm rotors
calipers are mounted lower on the fork legs to allow for the smaller rotor, (compared to the US and Oceania models using 300mm rotors on the front brake), Cannot swap in one fork. The forks between Europe and the US, and rest of the world, do not swap
Exception The Euro, US Custom Pics in post #5

NOTE; Major changes to European/English models,
553 Engine;.....longer Con-rods........Piston Gudgen pin position is higher up the piston
Front forks; Twin disk brake set up, (brake rotors are 265mm).........Calipers on rear of fork........Caliper mount brackets are lower on forks.......Axle clamp on right fork/Axle nut on left side.......Fender Braces mount to front fork leg lower down, (US and Oceania front rotors are 300mm, (cannot mix and match one of fork), between Euro and US/rest of the world)
