Pay to identify where the bike came from. US and Canadian carb jet, needles and needle jet set up was different on the BS34's.

If the vin starts with 5V5 it's Canadian. 5V4 it's a US model.

You have the same bike that I have. That includes the wheel swap. I bought mine new in 1983.

All I can say is it is an all stock USA made Heritage Special model made in 9/1982 and titled as a 1983. I bought it from the original owner.

Pretty much Factory, except for the wheels as Marty states.

Wheels are off an 81SH.

I just bought an old but in good shape none running 1982 650 HS. I have had a couple of theses bikes a 1978 and a 1980 years ago. I found this one for a very good price in Mesa Az. it had been in a garage in New York state for a few years but most of its life was Az. It came with the key, manual and title. It has great compression, the tank is clean it kicks over and I got the electric starter to work once. All the control light came on and it cranked over. I turned it off to pull the plugs to look for spark and now I cant get the the key to turn anything on? Any advice were to start looking?View attachment 347770View attachment 347771

That's correct/normal, model year production typically started in June of the previous year.

Makes sense. My Dad said he'd bought his (now mine) '77 in '76.
