New to this stuff🤔

For gloves, I like deerskin. I usually look for deerskin work gloves (black if I can find them) because they're cheaper than motorcycle specific gloves. Deerskin is softer but stronger than cowhide.

Thx 5T. I too am now looking for deerskin gloves. Maybe I’m a victim of strong advertising campaigns but I think I’d like to have some armour or wear pads on the gloves. The ones I’m wearing now (that need replacement), are pretty lightweight and have minimal extra protection over the leather itself. They have some thin thermoplastic or rubber bonded to the vulnerable areas.
I’m going to look at some gloves today and might shake the moths out of my wallet and get a decent pair.

I am an oxymoron. Heavy on the moron. I will ride lidless in my small town on 25 mph streets to the hardware store. But highway/county roads a helmrt and gloves go on. (I have been down hard.) I just tested a pair of riding boots for 80 miles and I am thrilled with them. Milwaukee leather, ~$80. Good ankle support and coverage. I ditched the bright red laces for a less flashy set of black laces. These boots do let you feel the upshift. I have a riding week coming up next week and I had to compare them against hiking boots, they win hands down.View attachment 334248
Those boots look good Kevin. I may try hunting down a pair. They look fairly thin above the toe so they may work ok with my shifters.

When I teach riding classes we advise against those type as basically you have a boot with a tennis shoe bottom. They may be comfortable but don’t offer much protection to the bottom of your foot. The tell we use is on those the toe can be bent over on top of itself. Boots with proper soles won’t do that.

A good quality helmet can really save you.

I need the compromise. Better protection than sneakers and a thinner profile, the ankle has limited range.
