OK, I've watched several times now at half speed. It definitely looks like the strobe is jumping when it misses. And when it does, it looks like it's jumping to full advance... or higher.
Without being there, it almost looks like the TCI box acting up. I've had a box do pretty close to what that one does.

I think just for prudence more than anything, I'd drop the float bowls and clean the pilot circuits real good and try again.

Don't suppose you have an extra TCI box?

be checking the pickup wires especially where thy pass behind the sprocket.. There been a few times a broken wire hanging by a thread back there created an intermittent ignition. even though the wires tested OK with an ohmmeter.
Hi Gary and Jim - tried original coil and it ran the same - Gary I just installed that stator and wires seemed ok

Let me back up here...
Cleaning the carbs might just cause more problems... then we'd really be chasing our tails.
Lets see if we can make sure iggy is good before we pull the carbs.

yes i have one in photo and tried it operated the same - wonder if it is the tci magnet from ebay stator i bought - meters good but who knows - when you say drop bowls - do you mean while carbs are attached to bike and just try to clean the passages or jets (forgive me not super knowlable on these mikunis) in the bowls?

Guess that eliminates the box. Jus' so we're on the same page, the TCI "magnet" is imbedded in the rotor. The pickup that's on the stator is a sensor... not a magnet.

Yes, if you can get the bowls off without removing the carbs, you could clean the pilot jets and such. Just don't know if that's a good idea just yet.

@gggGary , @Its been a long time , @5twins @anybody.... opinions?

If I'm following correctly, two TCI boxes tried with the same result*. So it's possibly a HT lead or spark plug or plug cap issue. Which can pretty easily be checked. Or..... yes it's in the carbs.

Myself I think I'd be putting a little bit more work into the ignition system before declaring it 100%. Then look at carbs.

* it is possible that two TCI boxes both have the same fault, but I'd park that idea for now.

I have not read through so apologize if this is dumb
But I don't believe that machine in the video runs on both cylinders
I would start it and pull off plug try to find out if it runs better on any cylinder left or right
or if both are acting up

The machine runs quiet mechanically so the ignition setting appears to be late
I would try to advance it slightly regardless of timing mark on alternator if such mark exists
See if that makes a change

Again please disregard if dumb I have not read through so apologize if this ready
