Not a BMW guy but just got this...

Can't go wrong with the FJR. 2013 was first year for cruise. I would look for a 13,14 or 15 which still has the 5 speed trans. Dont need the 6 speed.

FJR may not be dead, they have announced it for Canada and the USA has been last for the announcement for the last few years.

I love my 2013 FJR and have 70,000 on it now.
I had been looking for past several weeks at 2013+ but they are like unobtanium around me. Even within a fair driving distance. I got used to the add on throttle lock of the BMW so I can just add that to the FJR. I have a Gen 2 w/ heated grips in my cross hairs right now and its within the budget range I set for myself.

I rolled my 99 BMW R1100R out of the garage and rolled a '07 Tiger 1050 in. Jumped 2 era's of development. 10hp on paper, 25-30 real world. It's a badass motorcycle. Speed triple with all day egos. A triple before triples became cool again. Just add rear shock, front springs.
Check out the Tigers! $3-4000.

No splines, rear drive bearings, ign. pickups, and crumbling wiring insulation to worry about. I did like the front bmw suspension though. Fun at the dragon.
I have an 07 Speed Triple, my first bike, under 5k on the odometer. The other day I found the bag of goodies that the dealer gave me along with the owners manual. I test drove a Tiger before getting it, it's way more practical but the speedy just looked too cool and I had to have it. I found out real quick that it was not the most comfortable bike to cruise on. My girlfriend at the time lived 1.5 hours up I5 from me and by the time I got to her house I couldn't feel my hands so I bought a Sportster and put miles on it. But I still have my first bike and it's near mint. They have charging and starter issues that apparently develop right after 5k. I joined a tripe forum but those guys are a different breed and can come off asshole-ish just don't ask about oil or tires. I liked the tiger but still couldn't stand flat footed on it. I wonder what the Buell Ulysses was like I could reach the ground on those but never rode one. anyway, nice bie
