asking for a mate , he wants to paint his carbs black and asked be the easiest method to paint them , they will be empty and clean and also what is the best paint for a long time use, carb is a orig one for a xt600 but he asked me because some xs650 had black carbs .. thanks

Pretty sure they powder coated 'em.

If I'm not mistaken, powder coating is an epoxy based formula.... impervious to damn near anything.

I should’ve said, that I also think powder coating to probably be the best product. I was just referring to rattle can options.

I've got a set I rattle canned with semigloss black two years ago, they still look like new.

































I'll let you know how they look after I install and use them for a while.

Same thing, powder can be epoxy based amongst other things like polyester kind of like paint except it actually melts on.

Carbs on my rd200 came from the factory black.

They are definitely not powder coated. Way too thin of a coating, and time has taken its tole.

Looks to be a single stage paint 2k paint.

The same paint they used on the motor is what’s used on the carbs (at least on my RD).

I have a Heritage since new. The carbs were painted black. Eventually, most of the paint came off. When I did the top end I rattle canned them anew. 5K miles later, it’s good.

I have another set of Heritage carburetors. Rather than try to strip them, I’m going to repaint them.

i would not paint them. Just to avoid paint debris clogging up something when you need to clean them in a bath.

“C” series of Cerakote is air cured and is resistant to almost everything and needs to be blasted off.
