Navy Haze Grey. Make it a military themed bike!Quite the transformation from what you started with. Would look pretty good on a bike as is.

What's the rush? builder has all winter to work on it...Found a few spots on the tank I'm not completely happy with. It'll have to wait 'till tomorrow.... but everything else save the headlight bucket is red.

No rush here...What's the rush? builder has all winter to work on it...
This is the answer. I acquired some super-nice chrome-METAL trims, not the usual chrome-plastic.
Except for mine, I've never seen them anywhere. And, I believe the reason is -- the mounting bayonets don't quite line up, so the manufacturer decided to scrap the whole idea of marketing them, rather than have to deal with disgruntled customers.Wow! Nice, I didn’t even know you could get those. The plastic is cheesy and very fragile.
The plastic ones are fragile. Cheesy I'm not sure. They do look ok.The plastic is cheesy and very fragile.

I believe what you have came from Badge Replicas in Australia. Made of metal and pins don’t align is the giveaway for me. Do they properly fit in the recessed area of the cover? They shrink when they come out of the mold. Old Bike Barn and Diablo Cycle distribute their product, IIRC.Except for mine, I've never seen them anywhere. I believe I got them from the people behind yamahaxs650.com. Maybe they were a prototype, shipped from the manufacturer in Taiwan to Florida, where it was rejected, and I've got the only pair?
I think those are Australian dollars? Not so expensive.
You’re probably right. I just looked. Old Bike Barn has dropped the product. Diablo Cycle has Badge Replica products, but has dropped several of them, including the XS-2 chevrons. I suspect it may be due to the fitment issue pointed out by @DogBunny . I’ve seen the issue up close and personal. I imagine most folks aren’t willing to modify the panel or badge to make it work.I think those are Australian dollars? Not so expensive.
Yes, That's what I thought, either the badge shrinks out of the mold, or the mold itself shrank when it cured.I believe what you have came from Badge Replicas in Australia. The metal badges shrink when they come out of the mold.
Great detective work. Those are exactly what I have, as evidenced by the BadgeReplicas code number on the packaging.
I'll have to show this to my Grandson next time he's here. He asked me what was going to become of that old black primered tank. This will blow his mind.
