Perseverance pays off

This forum is a goldmine of good information. I was at a race meeting today and an XS sidecar (number 611 in my avatar) was having problems with his midrange,
He had changed the muffler recently and is running a home brew 2 into 1.
The muffler looked similar to the one on your bike but black. I suggested removing the baffle as a quick test. Next race all smiles again.
I will suggest he goes back to the old one which was only changed for ascetic reasons.

That's great to hear. It won't always be the case I'm sure, but it's nice to know that my experiences were able to prompt your suggestion, to good effect. And yes, I love this site, as you say it is a goldmine of info.
I'm currently building a new bobber/chop which will have another 750 rephased motor and vm34s, but won't suit a reverse mega setup, so am looking at straight pipes with slash cuts. After my last experiences I'm not sure how well the motor is going to like straight headers. Time will tell.
