Pmd install on 82 xs650

So have an 82 xs650 it had the original points system installed and it’s been problem after problem. So we installed a pmd from mikes xs install was super easy… but I’m left with a bunch of extra wires and the bike only kicks over at this time, guessing no spark? I did have to pull a wire from the original stator to actually get a signal and the lights to turn on. Now are there some wires that I will have to reconnect or what am I to do at this point? And I am keeping the electric start

Those connections look like voltage regulator and rectifier to me. The yellow lead goes to the starter safety relay. Your new installation has it's own rectifier/regulator?

The connector on the left is for the TCI trigger.
Your '82 originally came with the Transistor Controlled Ignition, not a points system. If yours has (had) points, they were added by a PO.

Ah yes. TCI ignition on an '82. Bike may not have it's original engine, might be an earlier engine with points? Or as stated above original 1982 engine had it's TCI system replaced by points?

Do engine and frame number match or are they different?

Yes it came with a new one and I installed it I guess I should double check and make sure it’s in the right plug or even plugged in

Yes numbers match
