Nice catch Gary; what are you going to do with it now?
Hope there's an "easy fix"?
the ad

This Bike was purchased new from BMW of*** Wi!
It has spent it's life in the ***** Wi area!
I am it's 4th local owner. The last 2 fought with a (stop running problem when it had run for a while; I changed out the Mag coil and it runs great!!)
However as I was Cleaning it for sale, the kickstarter failed due to the above mentioned problem of trying to start it for years! As I was gently kicking the kickstarter I hear something in it (like a nut falling in the transmission!) It still turns the motor but stop like something is between 2 gears!
It is a problem that new owner will need to fix!

The original Black Faring is included along with the white saddle bags, both are in great condition!

Price reduced from $**00!!!

Any of youse guys know anything 'bout these? Forums other groups?

When I started riding in the early 70's, one of the guys I rode with had one of those. Never washed it, said they never ran right after washing. Earles forks were clunky looking but worked well, as I understand it during braking they actually rise rather than compress.

Hey Gary! What a beauty, back in the 70’s I used to work with this German fella who used to ride a bike like that to work.
I always admired it. I’m sure the power output is mild to say the least, but if you can get er fixed up it ought to run forever.
You know I had an old 1000cc airhead and it was smooth as butter, I’ll bet that little 500cc jewel would just purrr. 😃
And me? I’d throw all that vintage touring gear on there and admire it for the retro touring rig it was.

This looks as an 60 ies model
I would not believe 4500 miles without other facts

Never seen that fairing and saddlebags here .. perhaps for US market

A coworker sold one in perfect condition Spotless ...looking like that not exactly sure if it was older and got a b ...iiiiii ..g pile of cash for it Unheard sum then
$ 17 k and this was many years ago
A couple of interested in Northern Europe he sold it from Sweden to Germany

What does he mean " Runs Great " is it idling no gear or is it on a test run
Sound as a gearbox problem
This is a machine someone will buy ( if it was here ) these are liked by some.

Yes, that Earls front end is made for sidecar use. It has two mounting points for the swingarm, one for solo use, the other for a sidecar. Moving it to the forward sidecar mounting point lengthens the wheelbase and changes the steering geometry to something better for sidecar use. Smoothest front end I've ever ridden with. Yes, it actually rises a little when you brake.

If the issue is in the tranny, that could be expensive. It's hard to get one apart because the rear cover is pressed on.

This was a farm "way up the holler" driveway was over a mile following a creek, but only 30 miles from Baraboo
Bob seems like a nice guy, he's definitely got a BMW addiction going on.

BMW tanks were lined from the factory with what looked like some sort of red primer. That might be it under all that gas"varnish", lol. Yes, as Mailman said, be prepared to crack open your wallet, one of the big reasons I got away from them (I'm cheap, lol). I find the 650 much more reasonable to own and operate, and it more fits my riding style today (mostly local).
