Hmm.........

Many Beemer shops in the late '80s and '90s did seat replacements (with unleaded compatible seats). Not sure about today. You probably noticed the no valve guide seal thing. BMWs relied on the snug fit between the valve stem and guide bore to "seal" the oil out. But, I've heard of guys installing seals, Yamaha seals in fact. It just requires a groove be machined into the top of the guide for the seal to snap into.

Wow, I never knew that about /2 heads. I never had a /2 motor though, my /2 was a "conversion", a /2 rolling chassis with a later motor stuffed into it, in my case a '76 R90/6 motor. Being that the largest /2 was only 600cc, this was done to give the bike more power, and in particular, for pulling a sidecar. BMW had "sidecar gearing", a different rear pumpkin with lower gearing, for sidecar use, but they are quite expensive, if you can even find one today, lol. My R90/6/2 pulled a sidecar just fine with the stock gearing.

And speaking of sidecars, your R50 has the mounting points welded right to the frame, all you need is a couple eye bolts for the uppers and a replacement front lower motor mount with the ball on one end. The lower rear ball mount is welded to the frame. BMW used to sell this as a "kit", don't know if it's still available today. Here's one for an even older model .....
