There's an R75/7 for sale near me for $500. Supposedly not running due to ignition timing. It's tempting, but I have too many projects as is.
get er fixed up it ought to run forever.
You know I had an old 1000cc airhead and it
Sent the head in to an early BMW head guru. I'll take a chance on the other head "as is" for now. They ARE easy to remove/install.
Should be a nice putt-putt bike.
Allison's already getting covetous.Quite the coincidence, a friend of mine had quit riding a few years ago, was moving to a new house and had a 76 R90/6 , stored for 12 years and asked me if I wanted it. Hell yeah, it's in my garage now. I might need help getting it back on the road. Now at least someone I know will know something about them other than BMW stands for Bikes Made Weird.......
The seller thought it had a "broken kick start" in the ad. An event that happened when he was prepping it to sell. All of a sudden It wouldn't kick through. While looking at it I put it up in high gear and rolled it back and forth. I was pretty sure something was keeping a piston from going through TDC before I handed over the money. In retrospect I shoulda just walked away.gggGary, I'm unclear on the sequence of events: did your kubelwagen wait 58 years until YOU bought it to decide to drop its valve seat? Or did you buy it knowing it was broken?

R u actually going to keep this or is it a flipper? The seller thought it had a "broken kick start" in the ad. An event that happened when he was prepping it to sell. But I've always liked the vibe of these "period look" BMW's
An actual Kübelwagen:

That’s a nice too kit they give you with that bike. Back then I suppose it was possible to repair your ride by yourself. On the Moto Guzzi, iirc, they give you an Allen key, screwdriver and a spark plug socket lol.thought this was cool.

Had to drill out the gas tank tool box lock mounting rivets to get at it. The rubber knee pad is the tool box lid.

Butt swacker? No, a flat blade screw driver with a hole in the handle to add "screw head slot wrecking" torque. What’s the long tool in the middle?
A quick bath in Evaporust will have ‘em looking like new! That screwdriver was most likely supplied by the company that supplied BMW with replacement screws. lol The beetle screws are a mix of flat head and PhillipsButt swacker? I might be motivated to take all the tools out and do another shot. there's one with a pin wrench, I don't know it's use.
