Rear Axle Length - TC Bros Hardtail

According to their installation instructions '74 and older axles are too short to use with their hard tails. I found a problem with that. My '74 axle was not too short. So, from my experience, I would say that any axle '74 and newer is the length that you need. If my ciphering is right, that would be 10-3/4", shank and threads, not including the head.

The early bikes, 70-73, had 1/4 inch thick axle plates, the axle was the length needed for those axle plates. In 74 they made many changes to the frame and swing arm, 3/8 inch axle plates were one of those changes. Thus a 1/4 inch longer axle was used.
Measure the axle plates on your frame. If 1/4 inch an early axle should work. If 3/8 use a later axle.
