i put new pipes from tc bros on my 78 and noticed this after a few mins of idle
along with the pipes i had bumped the #15 pilots in my vm 34s to a #17.5 (the next size up on jetsrus)

hopefully one side being hotter than the other is normal ? and these pipes are just thinner so its able to get red hot ?

would
apreciate some sound advice/observations on weather or not this is a big deal

Are those VM34`s made by Mikuni or are they the Chinky knock off? Is the slide 2.0 or 2.5? I think the average pilot is around 25. I`ve never seen exhausts hot like that before. Hope your not riding it like that.:yikes:
genuine mikunis , 2.0 round slide

i has been riding a few times before i noticed it , once the wind hits the pipe it cools down fast and its hard to notice because its not glowing
but regardless its running like a raped gorrilla , best its ever ran since the new pilots and pipes

im still stumped what would cause this issue ? fuel mixture ratio maybe ?

i should add too , i know this bike very well its my only vehichle rain , snow , or shine and i know the ambient temperature the engine puts off and it feels no hotter than normal to the touch , that pipe has always been a little hotter than the other , this is just the first time its glowed red

As has been pointed out a couple times now, your pilots are waaayy too lean. Look in Tech. There's a thread in there on tuning VM's to the XS.
really ? the 15s were the stock that came in the kit i got from mikes xs , i did have to bump up the main jet in the past though

heres a pic of the specs that come in the kit i got

This really needs to be sorted sooner than later, if your fuel mixture is too lean there is not enough fuel to regulate combustion temperature which can result in significantly hotter running temperatures, which in turn can burn holes in your pistons or damage your valves.

Sides being uneven is not normal either. I suspect something majorly wrong with the right side. running very lean and maybe an advance issue. Check for airleaks around the boot of the right carb. what ignition system do you have? Ultimately, put an airfilter on each carb and then adjust seetings per the recommendations in the tech section. check the ignition timing.
