Saddle bags

These are Viking Bags for cafe racer. Viking has dropped this stuff (You can still get a good deal on the tank bag), but it was inexpensive copies of SW Motech Legend Series. It fits anything. What you see here is a four or five day trip.

If you don't want to modify your motorcycle, this is good.

These are the bags that I have on my 81s - both were sourced from Cycle Gear - both now discontinued. They measure approximately 12"x 10" x 5"(square bags) - 6"deep for the slanted bags. They were originally throw- over style, but I fabricated hard mounts for them. Their relatively small size seems appropriate for the 650.

My personal favorites are the Krauser hard bags. I've been using them since the early '80s and put them on practically every bike I own. They snap on and off with the press of one button, so I only run them when I need to carry stuff. The racks remain on the bike and I always add a tail bag to the luggage rack .....

The bags come in two sizes. The ones above are the smaller Starlets. When this set of the larger Stars popped up on Craigslist a few years ago, I couldn't get over there fast enough, lol. Bags and mounts, complete, what a deal .....

I finally got them mounted on my '83 .....

Mr Dogbunny, I am really digging those cheap ass saddlebags! At $43, I am gonna order a set,
Mr Dogbunny, I was just thinking about a set of saddlebags. I don't plan on going on any long road trips and these (for the price) look like they will make it to the store and back a few times. One highly technical question..... can you stuff a gallon of milk in them?? lol

Yes, but you may not be able to latch the strap.
I get all my groceries on my XS650s. Stuff I don't want bruised like bananas and apples go in the saddle bag. Heavy items and most other stuff goes in a big reusable shopping bag that gets strapped to the rear of the seat with a net and a couple of bungees. Lightweight stuff goes into a small backpack. I can carry a lot of groceries.
If you move the bag back on the bike you could put one on each side.

Thank you for your response! I ordered one this morning. I went with black for an extra $3 dollars. I dislike tank bags and backpacks. If i can get a couple seasons out of these.... I can barely purchase a pizza, a couple of beers and leave a tip for $43 bucks. Read reviews on Amazon, not great but they don't look bad on the bike. thanks once more
