Well, I finally got around to repainting the seat, not without a few hicups though: I started getting fish eyes in the paintwork, couldn't work it out as it was the same paint I used for tank, guards, frame without any problems. I religously scrubbed the seat down with prepsol and all manner of things to no avail - fish eyes. Finally I bought some fish eye eliminator, but before painting again, bought a new tin of wax and grease remover.

As itnturned out, I think the old tin of wax and grease remover had been contaminated by oil, I see mto remember holding a greasy rag over the spout and upending to saturate the rag. Anyways, the fish no longer have eyes and the seat came out pretty good. So, now I'll send it out to cover. Crinkly vinyl, me thinks. I covered a Triumph seat with crinkly vinyl on top and smooth vinyl on the sides about 25 years ago using my old Singer treadle. But, I haven't been able to find that vinyl anywhere, so this time I'll farm the job out. I hate farming work like this out, I take great pride in being able to do everything on this bike myself, but not to be this time.

I'm thinking of 60mm thick high density foam for the base and maybe a little thinner foam on on the bum stop. i want to keep the cowl free of vinyl somthe painted cowl will blend in with the rest of the bike. I've made up a polished aluminium strip which I'll attach over the vinyl where it attaches to the cowl. You just cant haventoo much polished aluminium on a black bike.

That reminds me - names: I'm reliably informed that custom bikes should be named. After much deliberation, I ve decided on 'Black Bike', or 'Black Shiny Thing'.

I will be pendantic and point out that if you have only one bike the title "Bike" will do. If perchance you have more than one and more than one black bikes then you will need to improve the name some.
