Hi All, Looking at seats options for 78 xs650 spcial. I am keeping the shocks. looking for a nice seat that will fit the flatter mount. Ordered a la rosa 16" x 13" seat, which was great quality, but I think I will go for the 10" wide x 13" long for the bobber look. also trying to figure out the best way to mount an a flat rail... Picture is of the 16" x 12" which I am returning...

to the top, anyone went to solo seat mount without hardtail? Need a slight spring setup....

Hi j_p,
one time I tried fitting a replica Lycett seat to my BSA B25.
If, like me, you wanted to lower the seat height, it won't happen.
A swingarm frame's seat rails go straight back rather than sloping down like a rigid frame's seat rails and installing the Lycett around them put it at the same height as the stock dual seat.
I'd suppose that whatever style of sprung solo seat you installed would have the same problem.
You'd have to do a Bratstyle frame conversion to get a lower seat height.
BTW, what's the tire on your back wheel? Us sidecar guys need that kinda tire.

I'm using a Corbin-Gentry seat that I think will work out well. I see that you're also in Rochester. I'll send you a PM. If you'd like to see what that seat would look like on your bike, we can get together.
