Slowly trying to work thru several issues...Two biggest are the left cylinder seams to run hotter than the right. Exhaust header is a lot hotter. Part of which maybe a fouled right plug. I have constant spark with the timing light. The exhaust out the mufflers is noticeably different. But also looking at timing, with the light, I am seeing my advance jump around. The light also has a built-in rpm indicator. It doubles in rpm the moment it jumps. Engine sound is normal. Could that be a faulty condenser. I've never had one go bad. Back to the hot right exhaust, I plan on syncing the carbs tonight. I set the valve lash and cam tension. What other culprits could cause this?

Is the timing advance actually jumping around or is it an issue with the timing light? If it's genuinely jumping around, it's a simple task to strip and clean the auto advance assembly. Including cleaning and lubricating the advance rod that runs down the centre of the camshaft.

Left side is hotter because its doing all the work: firing & burning fuel. The right has a problem.
Could be ignition or carburetion or mechanical. Do you know the right side compression? (or left)?
Have the carbs been synced for equal airflow?.
You can't tune a carb if your ignition is messed up, (you just chase your tail.)
I always make sure my ignition is 10 out of 10. Have you set points, timed each cylinder?

That's one thing I don't have here. Compression tester. I am going to revisit my points and advance. With new spark plugs. Then move to carb sync. I have to create the tool for that. Thanks for the advice...
