Should we be afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

Big brother at its worst.

Love my non computerised, non AI 2005 Triton ute

We have cameras in our work trucks for our own safety yet only a couple have back up cameras, We have to wear chin straps on hard hats now and are supposed to wear them at all times because one could fall backward and strike the back of their head. I have heard the "if we could just save one life" BS spun before by our safety officers and have gone to great length to study rotational injury stats just so I can argue the point of not wearing it just to be told to shut up and follow protocol. I figure somebody gets in bed with somebody else (manufacturer and insurance company) and makes it mandatory. My company doesn't care they just don't want to pay more for insurance so we have bright shiny snitch cameras in dilapidated trucks. They told us that no one monitors it but then they've had special meetings to tell us not to flip the camera off, put up signs or draw dicks in it's view and any moving or blocking it's view is considered tampering with a safety device. I got in trouble at one of the meetings for asking if we still get to double pass material (it's like doing a job that takes X amount guys to accomplish but instead using half, exhausting the crew and increasing the chance of injury or incident and pissing everyone off in general) or are we worried about that one life? I'm sure there is some AI in the system that they use but it's not there for our benefit. The only benefit I could see from this is if we had personal monitors like on our phones so we could call bullshit when they told us an area is clear of health hazards airborne or other but we would probably have to pay for that and it would probably get ignored. Several sites (FB) we are not even allowed to have our phones out or take pictures so I doubt that would be allowed. What really concerns me is the making it mandatory aspect they try to do with everything and the lie that it's for our own good. I hope that there are still enough people who see this and reject it but doubt it. They only have to convince the youth that it's just us old fogies clinging to our whatever, archaic rights and personal decisions that are hindering progress and you don't want to be like them do you and it will become the norm.

Thing is, the corporation's and silicon valley will win. It's inevitable as new generations come along they grow up with their norm, AI, Smart technology that spies in us giving govt control.

I have resisted face book for years, but when I went to buy a secondhand lawnmower I had to find a source where the sales were.

Papers, nope, shit can't even find an escort 💃 advertising there any more.

Gumtree, nope, they used to be Australia's online, anything for sale or buy, or go to. Now they have a few things.....but.

Face book marketplace, no choice that is where people are dealing through, basically it's buy new or go on face book.

I have a choice, don't see my grandkids, or I have to have a FaceTime app to watch them grow. We are cought up in it but we don't have to accept it willy nilly.

Funny I still think a 2005 year old, 200,000klm, ute is modern after by my first car in 1970, being a 56 perfect.

The newest or most modern vehicle I have ever bought was in 1989, that was my 1983 XS650, 6 years old man I was successful😆

Guess I will always b behind the times

Some of you guys may have seen this post I made yesterday , with the photo of the old deserted roadside motel, that had a short poem accompanying it. Well I had seen the photo online and I just thought it reminded me of days gone by, and I had the idea to look for a short poem that carried that theme. I did a search online for poems along those lines and couldn’t find one that I thought fit.
So……I went on Google AI and typed in, “Create a short poem about a deserted roadside motel with a burned out neon sign” I actually thought that I probably asked it to do too many specific things and I would come up empty. To my amazement it popped up with the poem I included in about 2 seconds!
It made me think, in this day of AI , how in the heck would you ever get a student to write a history report or a term paper? All they have to do is ask AI. 😳

glad you asked! We have AI detection software. It runs the submitted text through multiple LLMs, and sees if it matches any of the outcomes. I get a rating, based on how likely the submitted work was generated by AI. Same with plagiarism. With that said, I do permit some usage of AI, primarily for research, but the final product must student-generated.

Tell that to my "profeesor" in college.
He gave me an F for plagiarizing.

I did not, it was the my best senior report on deep drawing metals.

I showed up 20% of the time in class, he was pissed that I learned so much. Therefore, BS you failed.

Dirty rotten scoundrel, had no clue about the subject. He was an adjunct from FANUC robotics.

Aee hhh maybe people will lose jobs ..
I picked up a HiFi at $ 25 from a flea market I do that sometimes when it is something i believe is over medium,

A Sonab Audio / Video receiver SR-V3850 Older ones of that brand are good newer not so much This one is in between.
No manual and no Remote
Connected it and got Sound in Headphones
Nothing trough speakers

Not a clue what to do For some HiFi Schematics can be Downloaded This is So " modern " that it has micro controllers in it.

So I started asking questions in AI

Starting

1780790248609.png

After about 6 sets of questions And tests as recommended a solution was found one that I would never figured out
The set was stuck on VCR 1 Video 1 input and could not be shifted to CD or FM

AI Told me hook the CD up to VIdeo 1 and use it
And some Deoxidation of the push buttons i Got Radio sound also

So it is usable HiFI

I don't believe I would be able find anyone nearby doing it at least not under $ 50 $30 starting fee
The search robot or if it is a small China Man doing it could in this case gather information about this specific Set

Without AI it would land in the dumpster within a couple of months
