I opted for smooth look with no struts, need to find thick fender though. Twisted choppers makes a really nice and clean strut kit that also looked good, shown below. Good luck with the new fender!

Here's mine. I wanted to reuse the stock fender, and I wanted a tiny gap between the fender and wheel. To do this, I've attached the fender to the swingarm. pretty simple setup. the front "feet" are painted black and pretty much disappear under the battery, and the rear supports of course could be customized/curved/ made fancy.

for mounting, the front feet bolt down to threaded studs on the swingarm, and the rear has a hole drilled through the swingarm, with a nut and bolt to hold it.

I used a spacer picked up from CT and a tophats from ebay to make the fender side portion of the mount. A bobbed section of fender is welded on the inside to increase rigidity in the area and offer strength.

Brackets were cut using a porta band, slots were made by drill and dremil.

the fender strut is mounted to the frame using a cut down rod coupling, through bolted from the back and a acorn is used as a lock nut.

Nothing that hasn't been done before.
