Gaining slowly getting the compartment lid base fit and hinge mounting options narrowed down.Riding now is priority over the little updates. The new shock did make a positive improvement.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.Nor will the Sidecar compartment lid with a small solar panel/panels for the accessories power. However it is progressing.”Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”I believe in this and am quite grateful to still be able to do so.😀👍

Made a seat using 5” firmer pad replacing the first 4”one I’d made. Some riding will tell if a 1” or so of rubber cushioning or comparable material is needed underneath. It wasn’t horrible in the beginning but needed attention.

From the beginning of this Sidecar project I’ve envisioned and intended fabbing and mounting a spare 75b headlight bucket to the now finished entry step hand assist bar. Just taped on for visual purpose only,I’m definitely not liking the size, the look and inevitable problem possibilities just hanging out there vibrating no matter how much cushion I build into the mounting components that are ahead. I’m considering a 5 & 3/4 copper finished new vintage replica headlight version mounted lower on the bar, thus less vibration. And I’m liking the contrasting look idea. The tub has its own 12v power.Any pros/cons on this type of aftermarket light before I dive in appreciated.T.I.A.

No snow or ice on the way old junk pile. The Replica of a Replica of an old motorcycle/sidecar project is no longer a stagnant knapkin project idea again.

Finding wheels to replicate the ones on this unit are the hurdle so to speak. The cost to get into any parts of very early motorized cycles is not even of interest to me. Considering Honda earlier 100&125’ wheels so I can get a start. All the frame and components have appealed to me be a combination of tubing and bend fabrication labor of love. I see no reason it can’t be built around a xs650 motor. Not going to be a big $ project, just a little change of pace project from time to time.Far fetched notion but cool conversion piece as I tinker.🤷‍♂️😁

all, and gggary too..
longtimeago I had a 400cc Kawasaki with a hack. the bike rear wheel was drum brake. Not very many miles/hours and the rear wheel began to crack at the hub, ie the aluminum alloy "wall" behind the shoes formed a circular crack right 'round the axle... Obviously the lateral stress from the hack... Which was a very light hack, and well affixed and properly done, except for fatigue life rear wheel...used an MGA tail light.

I'd like to mount a hack on one of my XS650 projects...
When I do you may be assured I will go for a rear disk... No more wheel disintegrating on the highway! Is very not nice when wheel comes apart at hub! Speaking of alloy, I'd use wire spoke, not cast.
