So you want to resurrect an old bike?

I have (had...he had a stroke) a trusted mechanic do all my work once a vehicle is out of warranty.

I have a lead on a new shop, but I need to check and see if my regular guy has recovered and gone back to work. I doubt it, but I'll check.

Hell will freeze over before I let some zit-faced teenybopper at Quickie Loob even TOUCH my car, much less "work" on it.
and how spanky!

How could this throw-away car be rocking 250,000 miles if I wasn’t maintaining it myself?

Shoulda kept my damn mouth shut. Got up this morning, no water. I could wait around 'til the plumber finds time to drop by, or just frickin' deal with it. Culprit was a bad check valve, corroded away, only 15 years old. Any job that requires the BIG pipe wrench is always fun. If I hadn't been willing/able to pull the pump myself I'd be at least a day w/o water. Unacceptable. Jobs like this are kinda like bangin' yer head against a brick wall- it feels so good when yer done.
