It is a TCI unit, not a CDI............another thing. I notice you refer to the bike as 79SF. whatever your paperwork says the bike is an 80SG. Different carbs, (BS34's), Has an Factory electronic Ignition, (TCI), clip on seat and different taillight/number-plate light and speedometer
Quick question about the first diagram. Does the safety relay connect to the otherwise capped off yellow wire from the alternator? If not, where does the yellow safety relay wire go to?

Yes it does. It is used to stop the starter motor from spinning once the engine is running. hence the safety relay, prevents damage. The yellow wire is from the generator.
