Something to worry about?

Hey fellas, first off, great forum! Just in the last month I’ve gained so much knowledge.

So I’m getting my cases ready to vapor hone and noticed this gouging on the outside of the case behind where the sprocket sits. I’ve circled them. What might have caused this? Chain jumping off at some point? I can’t imagine that the crank walks very much on these engines…

I would not worry about it. Apart from cosmetic damage it is not too bad and the alternator side cover will hide it.

Is that beneath the LH side cover? - broken drive chain or something caught in the drive chain probably. As signal says it looks cosmetic.
