Special paste for the lobes on a new camshaft?

Hi,
I am soon ready to assemble the head of the 1982 XT250 with a new camshaft and rockers. I seem to remember that aftermarket car camshafts used to come with a small tube of assembly/ running in lube. Most likely some kind of molybdenum disulphide grease.

Should I use for example CRC MoS grease, like used for driveshaft CV joints, or a "drier" type of MoS assembly paste, AkA Molykote?

Paste. Smear it on so it sticks.

Good stuff! I've used Royal Purple Assy Lube with the same good results.

Thanks for your tips! Trying to find something available in Norway, I ended up ordering Kent Cams' assembly paste, from a parts vendor for MG and other classic British cars.

Cam paste, not engine assy. lube.

Received my "Kent Cams" cam lube today. Some useful info on stickers, including ZDDP content, see attached pictire. I guess this is good stuff?

Lubriplate 105 is good stuff and even better, IMO, is Graphogen, both dissolving very quickly in the running in oil.
Graphogen was developed in the 60's and has been used since by the likes of Rolls Royce, Saab Aerospace, Perkins and Lotus, so must be well liked.

A bit runny but fine.
Trick is to schmere on then rotate engine to press moly/zddp hard onto the lobes and lifters.
It will adhere to surfaces for your 20 minute cam run-in.
