Hello everyone. Does anyone have a reasonable source for a speedometer damper for a 1975 XS650B? CMSNL.COM has one but they want over 50 dollars for a single one. Any help would be appreciated.

CMSNL does NOT have it. No one does. It has been unavailable since about the time the earth cooled.

That last link from Skull is new to me -- it's a different part, but yes, it does look like it will work. The RD gauges are slightly smaller in diameter, so that damper will have to stretch a little, but it does look like a good solution.

Had feedback from a recent poster who bought one and seemed quite happy. Time will tell if they disintegrate like the originals, those seemed to melt from heat, caused by vibration I assume

Thx for the information DogBunny. Do you know which RD damper they got?

Seriously!!!!!!!.

Sometimes I actually question why i help.

Read the posts answers.
Please don't be upset. I did go and read the post and ordered the part they suggested. As you can see I am not real good at menuvering these sites.

For a short term fix. I used a strip of window weatherstripping I bought from Home Depot. It took a little trimming but has been working surprisingly well. Five dollars worth of this stuff would do about a dozen instruments. Mine is holding well for a year so far.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I bought the rd dampers bought they're too thick. I took the tachometer off and found that someone had put a large o-ring as a replacement. I measured it and bought some more. They are working fine.
